Mock
Trial Competition
Run
by The Magistrates' Association and The Citizenship Foundation,
this initiative aims to introduce the legal system to young people
(Years 8 and 9) in an innovative and exciting way.
The
Competition - The Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition -
gives them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real
magistrates' courts. It is open to all state-funded secondary
schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and schools are
required to enter teams of 12/13 students.
Local
magistrates support this Competition enthusiastically and are
available from the outset to guide schools who enter. The Competition
usually takes place in the spring (March - July) with initial
entry and start-up work commencing in the previous October/November.
