Magistrates
in the Community Group
Schools
and Colleges
The
MIC Project was originally known as The Schools Project.
To
this day the main emphasis of the MIC initiative is still directed
towards schools and it is here that there has been a dramatic
expansion and development of our work - especially since "Citizenship"
has become part of the National Curriculum.
For
schools and colleges we are happy to offer:
Presentations - for all ages from 8 upwards
Court
visits - chiefly as part of a "presentation" programme
Schools/6th
Form Open Days - to include court visit, inter-agency briefings
and mock court work with sentencing exercises
Mock
Trial Competition - assistance from dedicated magistrates in
preparing schools for the national competition (See "Mock Trial" web
page for more details)
Presentations
fit into a number of curriculum areas such as:
Citizenship
studies, Personal and Social Education (PSE), Spiritual, Moral,
Social and Cultural Development (SMSC), English, Drama, Law and
Media Studies
